Game Recap

The Spartans embarked on their longest road trip of the season finding themselves all the way in Hermiston. Both teams had decent chances in the first half with the Sparts narrowly missing the opening goal after senior B. Tapia had chipped the keeper only to see it rebound off the crossbar. With the score 0-0 at half time both teams regrouped and started the second half. It was Hilhi who drew first blood. A number of corner kicks in the game gave them the opportunity to finally put one away when senior B. Tapia sent one in to the back post where sophomore G. Tena was able to head it in. Hillsboro was in charge after that, keeping the Bulldogs on their heels. The winning goal was the result of a quick counter when sophomore A. Lopez picked up a loose ball and played B. Tapia through where he slotted the ball across the face of goal and senior L. Mercado drew two defenders as he dummied the pass and sophomore O. Campeseco was able to tap it in at the back post. Final 2-0.
