The Spartans hosted their first conference dual Wednesday vs. the St. Helens Lions. Hillsboro started the dual with five consecutive wins to end the Lion’s chanc s before they even began. Damon Chavez started things out with a forfeit win at 106. Four consecutive pinfall victories followed from 113 Tristin Keffer, 120 Cole Siemon, 126 Tanner Keffer, and 132 Nick Peterson. St. Helens got on the board at 138 when Haidon Allen pinned the Spartans Jacob Schubmehl in the third period. The Spartans righted the ship with a 4-3 win by Caden Smith at 145 and an 11-5 victory by 152 Loudyn Reese. The Lions came back with a trio of wins, 160 Nick Richardson pinned HilHi’s Wilfredo Peraza and 170 Colton Beisley beat Trevor Schubmehl 8-4 before St. Helens won by forfeit at 182. Hillsboro finished the night with their own trifecta of wins, 195 Marco Huerta by forfeit, 220 Jordan Hoover by fall, and 285 Enrique Guerra 3-2. The final score was Hillsboro 51 St. Helens 21.
